Music Jam and Open Mike at Hoover School, plus our Holiday Potluck -- and a Special Event

The SCVFA will hold its annual Holiday Potluck at the December 4 Jam. This is a great chance to meet some of the other members and their families. We will jam from 1:00 until 3:00 or so (with the usual Learning groups: the Slow Jam from 1:30 to 2:30 and the Tune Builder from around 2 to 3), and then start serving the meal.

The Fiddlers Association will provide two main meat dishes (ham and turkey), beverages and tableware. We ask that people who would like to participate bring a side dish (or dessert) to share, sized to serve 4 times the number in their group. (For example a couple should bring a dish that will serve 8 people.) If you want to participate but can't bring a dish, you can purchase a meal for a nominal fee.

Charlie Walden Patt Plunkett This month we’ll have two special guests, Missouri fiddler Charlie Walden and his wife, pianist Patt Plunkett. They'll lead our Tune Builder workshop, and if time permits, perform a mini-concert — and then join us at our annual Holiday Potluck.

Patt and Charlie, aka “Patt and Possum”, teach and perform the old-time music of Missouri and other regions, in workshops, concerts and for contra dances. They've done all three several times recently in the Bay Area, to great acclaim. Come meet them, and learn a couple of tunes, and enjoy their playing.
