Jam and Open Mike at Hoover School, plus KidFiddle
Join us at the
June jam at Hoover School for music indoors and out.
Our usual format: multiple jam groups from 1-5, open-mike performances on stage
in the Hoover multi-purpose room starting around 1:30,
and the Beginners' Circle slow jam from 2-3.
At 2:00 we will also offer this spring's second KidFiddle workshop for young fiddlers.
We're delighted to have bluegrass fiddler and teacher
Pete Hicks leading the workshop. Pete is a member of the local band
Bean Creek
(you can hear samples of their music on the website),
and has been a regular columnist for our newsletter, the Fiddler's Rag.
The workshop is intended for advanced-beginner to intermediate fiddlers,
17 and under. We'll invite the students to play on stage with Pete
after the class.
Tuition is only $5, and youth admission to the jam is free as always.

Free Jam at the Rose Garden Park -- and a Special Event
The July jam will be held in the
Rose Garden Park
on Naglee Ave. at Garden Dr. (adjacent to San José Municipal Rose Garden).
The park is just two blocks from our usual Hoover School location. Free admission.
(Note: We will not have our usual open-mike performances at this jam.)
Bring a picnic if you like (barbeques are available in the park),
and come to jam or just to listen. Come early and help us by reserving a table!
We'll be sharing the park with, and performing for, the
Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild, who are holding a Fiddles and Roses
event. Guild members will be sporting costumes representing the middle and
lower classes of the 1920s to 1940s.
